Kogi Election: Empty Stsdium, Scanty Crowd At PDP Campaign Launch

Opponents of the PDP in the state claim that it was an empty stadium as the opposition party flagged off its campaign.

The event was held at the popular Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

The event had in attendance PDP governors and party top guns including the national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

Engineer Wada, the candidate of the PDP is challenging the incumbent, Alhaji Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Critics of the party say the poor outing is as a result of the unacceptance of Wada by PDP members in the state.

I heard Engr. Musa Wada was in Lokoja for a rally today and the township stadium was almost empty! People remained in their houses and refused to turn out for the rally because of the love they have for the APC/GYB/Onoja. Kai, Wada and PDP no popular for Kogi o.

In his reaction, an APC leader in the state, Mr Adejoh Okai said: “No one who has ever tasted the honey of good governance that the APC government in Kogi state and other states have been dishing out to the people, will opt for the bitter pill of corruption and despotic feudal style of governance of the former governor of Kogi state and their PDP candidate.”

Meanwhile, an APC chieftain and commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in Kogi, Engineer Abubakar Ohere, has said that the PDP is dead and would soon be forgotten in the central senatorial district of the state.

Okere who is the APC political leader in the district made the comment on Thursday, October 24 during the APC ward rally held across the state.
