Manchester United give injury updates on three players

Man United trio Victor Lindelof, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire all suffered knocks in the Carabao Cup win over Chelsea.

Maguire seemed to suffer a knock

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful Manchester United's injured players will recover for the Premier League fixture at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Centre-back Victor Lindelof was replaced by Anthony Martial in the second-half of the League Cup fourth round win over Chelsea and consulted club doctor Steve McNally and physio Richard Merron before he received treatment.

Matchwinner Marcus Rashford was withdrawn late on for Ashley Young and appeared to indicate a problem with his knee but did not require any further assistance and took his place on the bench.

Defender Brandon Williams soon appeared to signal that captain Harry Maguire needed to be replaced but the centre half played on since United had made all three substitutions.

United kick-off at the Vitality Stadium at 12.30pm on Saturday and travel down on the Friday, leaving some of Solskjaer's first-teamers with little time to prove their fitness.

"We're playing football, it's not basketball," Solskjaer said when asked by MUTV about Rashford and Maguire. "Some of them are sore but you should be absolutely down on your knees, because it's worth it.

"But they're quick healers and hopefully they'll be ready for Saturday."

Rashford did not dwell on his knock during his post-match comments. "We've been in a tough place. We're still getting through that phase and the only way to do it is to fight your way through it and get three points because at the end of the day they're the things that keep everybody happy.

"When you go home and you've won the game, whether it's home or away, that's when you wake up with a good feeling. So we just want to recreate that as much as possible this season.

"The main focus for us is improvement and development because we're definitely going places. From pre-season, we did a lot of good work. The start of the season wasn't exactly what we expected but we've got to get through it and get back to winning games."
