It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday presented a 2020 budget estimate of N10.33trillion to a joint sitting of the National Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday received at the State House, Abuja, some of the Ministers who served with him as military head of state between January 1984 and August 1985.

While playing host, the President recalled “how we got things done then,” because it was a military administration, and pledged to “carry everyone along on my last lap as a democratically elected leader.”

4. FG, Labour Fix Date To Conclude Negotiation On Minimum Wage

The Federal Government and Labour Unions in the country, have scheduled a high-level meeting for October 15, for the full implementation of the new minimum wage.

5. #MainaGate: EFCC Gets Order To Extend Maina’s Detention

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured a court order to detain former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina and his son, Faisal, pending the conclusion of its investigation.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court, Bwari, granted the order on October 7, 2019, following an exparte application by the EFCC.

6. Why Budget 2020 Is Not Sustainable – Senator Abaribe

The Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, says the budget 2020 proposal is not sustainable because debt servicing is higher than capital expenditure.

9. Why FG May Revoke Abuja, Ikeja, Six Discos’ Licences

There are reports that the Federal Government may revoke the licences of eight power distribution companies as the Discos breached some provisions of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act in July 2019.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission identified the eight power firms as Abuja, Benin, Enugu and Ikeja, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt and Yola Discos.

10. Finally, ASUU Breaks Silence On Lecturers Indicted In #SexForGrades Scandal

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called for an investigation and appropriate sanction for lecturers indicted in the alleged “Sex for Grades” scandal.
