1. President Buhari Presents 2020 Budget To National Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday presented a N10.729 trillion 2020 budget estimate to the joint session of the National Assembly for approval.
The president said it was a budget of Fiscal Consolidation to strengthen Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment; investing in critical infrastructure, human capital development and enabling institutions, especially in key job-creating sectors. President Buhari said the 2020 budget was based on the new VAT rate, adding that the increased revenues will be used to fund education, health, and infrastructure.
According to the figures, N2.46 trillion has been allocated for capital projects in the figures based on $57/barrel oil price and 7.5% VAT.

President Muhammadu Buhari says the Finance Bill 2019 he forwarded to the National Assembly, when passed into law, will permit government to raise the country’s Value Added Tax (VAT) from 5 to 7.5 per cent.
