Kogi Election: INEC Recruits For State Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said that 81 persons with disabilities were among ad hoc staff it had recruited for the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State.

Alhaji Ahmed Biambo, Director, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC office, Lokoja, disclosed this on Wednesday on the sideline of a one- day sensitisation forum organised by the commission for persons living with disabilities.

Biambo told NAN that the 81 physically challenged persons were recruited to work as Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers. Read more here.
PDP Reacts To Buhari’s Request Of N10bn For Kogi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to get the Senate to approve N10 billion for Kogi State.

Buhari had written the Senate, seeking approval for the payment of N10.069billion as settlement of promissory note to the Kogi State Government led by Governor Yahaya Bello.

In a statement signed by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, urged the National Assembly to channel the funds for payment of salaries and pensions of suffering Kogi state workers. Read more here.
Kogi Election: 45 Parties Adopt Yahaya Bello As Candidate

A coalition of 45 political parties have jointly adopted Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as their candidate in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State.

Chairman of the coalition, Sani Teidi, who announced this at a press conference in Wednesday in Lokoja, said that the parties decided to adopt Bello to boost his re-election bid.

12 of the parties in the coalition are fielding candidates in the election, while 15 others have no candidates. Read more here.
