2. Kogi Decides: Party Doling Out $1000 To INEC Officials, Group Alleges

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) has claimed that a political party is doling out about $1,000 to officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi State. The group raised the alarm in a statement on Friday, saying that the money was meant to make INEC influence the outcome of the poll.

3. Kogi/Bayelsa Elections: Results In Volatile Areas Will Be Cancelled – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that election results from polling units where cases of ballot box-snatching were recorded may be cancelled. The electoral body says despite reports of violence recorded in different parts of Kogi and Bayelsa states, most voters who were willing to vote had the opportunity to do so. In a communique by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, the commission said it carefully monitored the electoral process in both states.

4. Kogi Decides 2019: INEC Official Abducted In Lokoja

An unidentified official of Nigeria’s electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been kidnapped in SUBEB polling unit in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital. The abduction happened after gunmen shot sporadically into the air while voting in the Kogi governorship election was ongoing. It was learned that voters scampered for safety before the gunmen went away with the official.

5. Police Say Security Situation In Kogi More Challenging Than Bayelsa

The Police have lamented that the violence in Kogi State during the governorship elections was worse than that of Bayelsa State. According to the security experts, politicians are responsible for the electoral malpractices and violence that occurred during the Bayelsa and Kogi governorship elections. Speaking when he featured on Channels Television on Saturday evening, Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer, said although some of the incidences had been identified in the threat analysis and preventive measures were taken, a lot of things are still beyond the control of the security agencies.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has berated the Department of State Services (DSS) for saying that the illegal detention of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, Col. However, in a statement on Saturday, the proscribed group asked the DSS to allow its leader, Zakzaky, to address the public on whether or not he chose to remain in custody.

The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement in the last governorship election in Ogun State, Adekunle Akinlade has expressed his readiness to head to the Supreme Court to challenge the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun. Addressing representatives of the party from the 57 local government and local council development areas at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital, Akinlade said he was sure of victory at the Supreme Court.

8. Anambra: Catholic Priest Burnt To Death In Church

A Catholic priest, Rev Fr. Edmond Nwagbal, was burnt to death as fire guts St. Peter Claver Catholic Parish Nnew ichi in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State. 60-year-old Nwagbal was said to be within the church premises when fire gutted part of its residential building around 4am. The priest, who was said to be burnt beyond recognition was rushed to the hospital, but gave up the ghost.

9. Appeal Court Affirms Ikpeazu’s Election As Abia Governor

The Owerri division of the Appeal Court has validated the victory of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Concise News reports. Justice R.A Adah, on Saturday, also struck out the appeal filed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Abia State, Alex Otti.
