1. Sowore: DSS Makes Fresh Allegation Against Detained Activist

The Department of State Services (DSS) has accused the convener of the Revolution Now movement, Omoyele Sowore, who is still in their custody of using his phone to make calls to mobilize people and call for violence and action against the Nigerian State. Addressing reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, said though they have received the court order that Sowore should be released, they could not just let him go without proper documentation to the appropriate sureties.

2. Unstable Power Supply: Senate To Launch Probe Into DisCos, GenCos

The Senate has directed its committee on power to launch an investigation into the activities of power generating (GenCos) and distribution companies (DisCos) with a view to unraveling the cause of unsteady power supply in the country. The motion for a probe of the power firms was moved by Chukwuka Utazi, the lawmaker representing Enugu north senatorial district, during plenary on Tuesday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it is investigating one Hope Olusegun Aroke, a convicted internet fraudster who is serving a 24-year jail term at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos for being the alleged mastermind of a mega scam to the tune of over $ 100,000,000. According to EFCC report, Aroke allegedly made the steal right from prison using a network of accomplices, some of whom were targets of fraud and money laundering investigation.

7. 10 Corpses Roasted As Fire Guts OAU Morgue

The Osun State Police Command has said that an early morning fire has razed the morgue of the Anatomy Department of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. Spokesperson for the state Police Command, Folasade Odoro, who confirmed the incident, said that about ten corpses were burnt during the incident on Tuesday.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Most Revd Justin Peter Welby has acknowledged the letter sent by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) urging him to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to obey court orders involving activists Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare who remain in arbitrary detention despite a court order for their release.
Speaking on behalf of the world leader of the Anglican Communion through an email, Dominic Goodall, the Chief Correspondence Officer at the Lambeth Palace revealed that the letter was received by the archbishop through him.
