AIT Founder, Raymond Dokpesi Sets To Joins APC

The story has been all over the place. On Monday, it set twitter on fire. AIT founder and media mogul, Raymond Dokpesi has joined APC???

Many were shocked, while others expressed anger and disgust at the news which came through a twitter handle named Nimrod. According to the handle it said

"Yet to be broken news: Chairman of AIT High Chief Raymond Dokpesi set to join @officialAPCNg.

In fact he has moved and an official launch will be done soonest.

Just in case you start seeing AIT airing pro-@MBuhari things, don't fret. Oga don port sharply"

The feelings were mixed because Dokpesi has been a staunch pillar of the PDP and even contested for the chairmanship of the party some time back. Reactions that followed the news flowed from people commending his actions while others expressed disappointment that someone like Dokpesi would cave in to all the threats by the APC government and this may lead to Nigeria becoming a one-party state.

Dokpesi, who is currently on trial over his involvement in the N2.1 billion Dasuki scandal from the Jonathan government, has also sued the Buhari led government for blacklisting him as one of Nigeria's corrupt politicians.

But has Dokpesi joined the ruling APC?

Investigations by this reporter reveals that the political bigwig's latest suspension by a faction of the Edo state chapter of the PDP may have led to the rumours. The Edo state PDP has been embroiled in turmoil leading to the suspension of political weights like Tom Ikimi and Dokpesi by a faction of the party led by former governor of the state, Lucky Igbinedion.

You will also recall that the former governorship candidate of the PDP, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu recently jumped ship to the APC. He is said to be a threat to Governor Godwin Obaseki's re-election in 2020.

However, their are reports that the two factions of the party are trying to reconcile their differences.

Some workers of the AIT are hopeful that the story of their boss joining the APC is true. They say this will turn the fortunes of the company (for better) which has not been patronized by the present government because the stance of its founder.

However, inside sources to the AIT founder says he has been laughing at the story since it broke on Monday. They assured this reporter that Dokpesi would never jump ship to the APC.

This was buttressed by a tweet by a close aide of Dokpesi, Babasola Kuti who said that Dokpesi would rather resign from politics than join the APC.
